Mega-Tech

Fantasy Zone for the Sega Mega-Tech a direct copy of the Sega Master System game. This is one of the last (if not the last?) Mega-Tech games that needs to be dumped for Mame.

Here are some pictures showing the process of dumping the game files.

Maskrom and EPROM desoldered.

A basic adaptor needed to be made for dumping the maskrom
Thanks to alien_mame and Charles McD for the pinout info.

Region changing (Triforce / Chihiro)

I found this spanish post while doing a google search. http://www.retrovicio.com/foro/showthread.php?t=9901

Google doesn't do a great job of translating it but basically all you have to do is turn on the triforce or chihiro motherboard with nothing connected except for a satellite / netboot pic security chip. Then go into the test menu using the test button go down to system information and press the service button 30 times.

For Chihiro you have to press service button 15 times until GAMEID appears. Then press service a further 30 times.

Thanks goes to Android for the original post.

TransferGame (Naomi / Triforce / Chihiro)

This little app has been hoarded long enough so here it is. It's basically the exe version of triforcetools.py without having to mess about installing python.

Naomi

Club Kart mystery solved, thanks to dknute.

Naomi

After spotting this on eBay it seems this game was released on both Naomi 2 (sorry system16.com) with a proper case and Naomi 1 in a metal box (the version I have).

I suspect the Naomi 2 version is really the Naomi 1 game as Naomi 2 is backwards compatible. Why exactly Sega would do this I have no idea, but why would they port it to Naomi 2 either?.

Converting Turbo Outrun to original Outrun

I made these pages for personal reference when I did the conversion but someone else may find them useful.
Outrun is a very flaky board due to it's age and being operated for decades. Working boards still fetch good money so some times it's cheaper to buy a turbo board and convert it.

Naomi

Not very exciting but it's not in Mame and needs archiving. The 27c322 rom dump from Club Kart Prize this game is Naomi 1 not 2 despite what system16.com says. I have the cartridge but currently no means of dumping the smt roms.

Here

Mega-Tech

Something else that may interest Mega-Tech owners, Nipedley at http://www.nipedley.net/ has documented a way to play Mega Drive / Genesis cartridges on a Mega-Tech motherboard.

Site down, the files can be found here along with some other mega-tech stuff.

Mega-Tech

After buying a Mega-Tech machine I became obsessed with tracking down a Streets of Rage cartridge (the best game on the system). After lots of ebay and google searches nothing turned up, the game wasn't even in Mame but I did find someone on arcadecontrols forums who had it.

My plan was to borrow his cart dump the roms and make my own cartridge. To see if this was possible I first tried converting World Champ Soccer to Sonic, another good game hard to track down.

Anyway long story a little less long swapping the roms works a treat.

Hello

Hello welcome to Not In Mame, I hate 'blogs' but this in an ideal dumping ground for data and information I have gathered over the years as a video arcade game collector / enthusiast.
